Local 3523 Supervisor Candidate Wins

Posted On: Jun 04, 2008 (19:39:02)
On June 3, 2008 election day came and went.  San Luis Obispo 3rd District Supervisor candidate and Local 3523 endorsed Adam Hill was successful in defeating the incumbent in the race for Supervisor.  Newly elected Supervisor Hill went through a joint interview process with Local 3523 and the Deputy Sheriff's Association.  Both agencies endorsed Adam within a week of the interview process.  He possess a great knowledge of the issues and problems facing public safety and is willing to stand-up to make sure that public safety is taken care both on the job and in retirement.  Hill will bring a great deal of labor experience with him as he is a current union member and has been for many years.  He has managed to connect with voters in a way that you just don't see everyday.  He is and will be a great friend of Local 3523 and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with our newest Supervisor and his honest approach to politics.  Local 3523 would like to congratulate Adam on his landslide victory.

CHANGING OF THE BOARD

Updated On: Jun 23, 2007 (15:31:00)
As July approaches for Local 3523 some new faces will appear on the Executive Board and Directors for the next two years.  We are welcoming Captain Mike King, Captain Jody Larson, and Captain Jeff Gater to the Board.  We would be remiss if we didn't thank the three members that will be leaving the Board.   Captain Dave Podhorsky has served for the past two years on the board with distinction, spearheading many operational and policy improvements and bringing training to the forefront of our priorities.  Engineer/Paramedic Sammy Fox has served on the board for the past 4 years and has made many contributions to the betterment of our union and all our members.  He has been active on the negotiating team, EMS program, training, setting up this website, and many other projects that are just too long to list.  Engineer Rob Farino has served on the board for the past 2 years and has contributed in many areas to the Union and the safety of our members.  Specifically in the area of training.  Rob has progressed the training of our membership and their safety through his hardwork and dedication.   Local 3523 would like to thank both of these members for their committment and dedication over the past few years.
An Evening For Charity

Posted On: May 27, 2007 (20:33:44)
On April 14th Local 3523 hosted our 4th Annual Firefighters Ball.  The evening was once again one of our most successful fundraisers of the year.  We raised money to benefit the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation and Local 3523 charities.  The success of the event can be attributed to many individuals:  Steve Gonzalez, Local 3523 Vice President, Mrs. Regina Vasquez, Mrs. Shawna Parker and Mrs. Candie Gabriele.  These four people were the heart and soul of this years event and Local 3523 would like to thank each of them.  We look forward to watching our event grow and get bigger in the years to come.  We hope to see many more faces at our next event.
